Michael Calandra was born in 1962 in Monroe, Michigan (USA). As a child he studied the comics, horror, science fiction and art art masters of the genre, such as, Frazetta and Wrightson. It worked great drawing skills with pen and ink, imitating their styles. Enrolling in college, he developed these skills by studying the image of wildlife and portraiture. Eventually he won many victories and has earned many awards at various exhibitions and galleries, has earned recognition of their works, but nevertheless always retained an interest in fantasy, horror and Pinup. In his works, Michael seeks to capture the essence of any issue. He is convinced that the artist must communicate with the audience through painting.
